Leabua Maretlane

Project Director

Leabua has been a Managing Director of a construction company in Lesotho for almost twenty years. Before then he served in various managerial capacities in the gambling industry both in Lesotho and South Africa. Leabua helped to set up and managed the Graceland Casino in the South African province of Mpumalanga, making it one first casino to operate legally immediately after South Africa changed to a democratic dispensation. After that, he went to Gauteng Province, a bigger and much busier province where he displayed strong managerial capabilities and commitment that saw the gambling fraternity move to higher levels in SA. Leabua Maretlane is currently a construction guru and has to date worked on community-related projects such as construction of residential houses for people that have been reallocated as a result of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), a project that generates revenue for the country through sale of water to SA and refurbishment of a clinic that is found in one of the most remote parts of the country thus serving the most needy. Leabua is a Lesotho national and has spent most of his life locally and SA. He speaks both English and Sesotho with absolute fluency. Leabua is married and has two children.
