Dr. Bosielo Majara Ph.D.

Dr Bosielo Majara served for more than ten years as Head of Family Health Division (FHD) in the Ministry of Health (MOH), Lesotho. As Head, FHD he was responsible for the strategic leadership of four national programmes, namely, Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Child Survival including an expanded programme of immunization (EPI), Nutrition and Community Based Health Care (CBHC). Thereafter he joined UNICEF Lesotho as Health and Nutrition Specialist for four years. He then re-joined MOH as an Operations Advisor of a World Bank-funded HIV and AIDS Technical Assistance Project (HTAP) for six years During his tenure as Operations Advisor HTAP, Bosielo was able to accomplish the following: capacity building and strengthening of the health sector in the areas of Research, Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Pharmaceuticals in general. Regarding research, he was able to assist with the establishment of a Research Unit; development of TORs for both the Ethics and Proposal Review Committees and their setting up; development of a format for proposals to be submitted for approval to MOH; and lastly development of the Health Research Agenda. Regarding SCM, he was able to assist with the establishment of a Supply Chain Coordinating Unit (SCCU) and taking off. Regarding Pharmaceuticals, he was able to assist with the review and updating of the Lesotho Standard Operating Procedures (LSOPs) and the Drug Supply Manual (DSM). Bosielo Majara is currently a free-lance Public Health consultant and an entrepreneur. Bosielo is a Lesotho national and has spent a sizeable amount of time overseas especially in Europe attending official meetings, conferences and seminars as well as studying. He has an excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written. He currently holds a BSc in Biology and Chemistry from National University of Lesotho (NUL) and an MSc in Clinical Nutrition from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and lastly a PhD in Community Health from the University of Free State, South Africa. Bosielo is married and has one daughter.
