Pablo has served as a WFP project officer in Rome, Lesotho and Mozambique and thereafter as Country Director and Representative in Mali, Zambia, the Occupied Palestinian Territories and recently the Democratic Republic of the Congo; he also served as Deputy Country Director in Darfur, Sudan. Pablo Set up and managed WFP’s Vulnerability Assessment and Mapping (VAM) unit in Rome and headed the Field Information Support Section of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in New York. Pablo has recently retired from WFP after more than 30 years of service in the humanitarian and developmental fields. Pablo Recalde is currently a free-lance entrepreneur and works as senior consultant of the Florence based firm “Italian Green Design” (IGD). Pablo has recently been nominated as Lesotho Consul (AH) in Ecuador by his majesty King Letsie the III of the Kingdom of Lesotho. Pablo Recalde is an Ecuadorean national and has spent most of his life overseas. He speaks, Spanish, Italian, English French and Portuguese and holds a BA in economics from the University of Sussex in England and a Masters Degree in economics from the University of Paris-Sorbonne. Pablo is Married with Nthabiseng Maretlane a national of Lesotho and has two children.
